Access

Blythe Valley Park is located in the heart of England, at the centre of the UK's transport network.

This location provides easy access for staff and visitors travelling from all parts of the United Kingdom. 

The M42 links directly into the - M40 (for the south) - M5 (for the southwest) - M6 north (for the northwest) - M6 south (for the M1 south / A14M southeast) - and M1 north (for the northeast).

Travel - plane

Air

 

 Birmingham International Airport is located 5 miles from Blythe Valley Park, with direct access from the M42 motorway.

Birmingham International Station serves the airport and National Exhibition Centre, and is connected directly into the terminal buildings via a free 'Air-Rail Link' monorail system. The 'Air-Rail Link' operates between 0515-0200.

Blythe Valley Park runs the dedicated ‘B90’ shuttle bus which connects Blythe Valley Park to Birmingham International Station on an hourly basis, Monday - Friday. With a journey time of 13 minutes and a £2 single fare, it provides a cost effective and efficient service, enabling passengers to connect onwards to air and rail travel in the UK and Worldwide destinations.

Closest Railway Stations:
There are several rail stations within a 5km radius of Blythe Valley Park:

  • Birmingham International Station operates 3 trains an hour to London Euston with a journey time of around 70 minutes.
  • Solihull, Widney Manor and Dorridge, on the Chiltern Line between London Marylebone and Birmingham. (Chiltern Railways, Virgin Trains).
  • Shirley, Whitlock’s End, Wythall, Earlswood and The Lakes on the Birmingham to Stratford line.
  • Birmingham New Street on the London Euston to Manchester Line (Virgin Trains).

Travel - bus

Bus

 

 Blythe Valley Park offers direct and frequent bus services to Solihull town centre, Birmingham International Station and Birmingham City Centre.

Shuttle buses are easily recognised carrying the distinctive house colours of blue and green and the Blythe Valley Park logo.

The S9 Shuttle Bus runs from Blythe Valley Park, via Solihull Train station and onwards to Solihull Town Centre with a 22 minute journey time. Network Cards, concessions and cash fares are accepted. 1 day Network Cards can be purchased on board.

The X20 Bus runs hourly at peak times only, from Stratford upon Avon calling at Blythe Valley Park and onwards on to Birmingham City Centre.

The B90 shuttle bus. The service operates hourly, directly along the M42 motorway from Birmingham International Station to Blythe Valley Park with a 13 minute journey time. A single fare costs £2. Network Cards, Concessions and cash fares are accepted. 1 day Network cards can be purchased on board.

Travel - car

Car

 

 Staff working at Blythe Valley Park are encouraged to take advantage of the parkwide car sharing scheme that is in operation. The Blythe Valley Park Travel Share Scheme is FREE to join for all Blythe Valley Park occupiers and offers cost saving benefits.

Travelshare

Blythe Valley Park encourages sustainable alternatives to multiple car usage, a practical solution is offered through the Blythe Valley Park Travel Share Scheme.

The scheme, administrated by the Blythe Valley Park Travel Coordinator, is available to all staff working at Blythe Valley Park. 

It is recommended that visitors travelling to Blythe Valley Park by car, phone the company they are visiting in advance to arrange for a parking space to be reserved for them.

Cycling

 

A connection through Blythe Valley Park is included in the Solihull cycle route network.

Within Blythe Valley Park, there are shared-use pedestrian and cycle routes alongside the carriageway of Blythe Gate and the Exit Road. The bridleway between Kineton Lane and the Virgin Gym offers an alternative route into Blythe Valley Park from Kineton Lane. There is a segregated off-road cycle track alongside Widney Lane and Monkspath Hall Road, which enables cyclists to reach the A34.

Controlled crossings on the A34 have been provided at the entrance and exit from Blythe Valley Park to facilitate cycling and walking to work.

There is a good network of relatively quiet rural roads to the west and south of Blythe Valley Park, and these can be used to access rail stations for longer journeys, and to bypass some of the busier main roads for shorter journeys.

Blythe Valley Park has 6 pool cycles for the use of all occupiers to use at their leisure, free of charge. Cycles must be booked in advance by calling Park Security on 0121 733 3421. 


Travel - walk

Walking

 

 Blythe Valley Park offers an excellent location for recreational walking. A total of 2 miles of new footpaths and cycle paths, with lengths of boardwalk and bridges, provide easy access into the Countryside Park. It takes between approximately 45 minutes to an hour to make the full walk around the Countryside Park but shorter walks are possible by taking some of the alternative paths within the Countryside Park. The paths connect into the existing Solihull Borough right-of-way network, and include a 1,200 metre long stretch of the new Blythe Valley Walkway. This walkway runs from the Countrside Park entrance, past the Park Centre and onto footpaths beyond.

Whether you are out for a quiet leisurely stroll at lunchtime or a brisk walk as part of your exercise regime, attractive, quiet areas of natural beauty with ponds, reed beds, trees and wildlife, can all be enjoyed. Designated areas are set aside with seating for you to enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
