IM Properties (IMP) is bringing one of Birmingham’s coolest coffee shops to Blythe Valley as part of its on-going investment in the 250-acre business park.

Java Lounge already operates from two sites in Birmingham; Moseley and Colmore Row, and will open in a purpose-built 1,500 sq ft facility currently being completed by IMP.

Development surveyor Rachael Clarke says the new coffee lounge will add to the amenity offering of the park, which already includes a Virgin Active and Busy Bees Nursery.

“We have invested in and enhanced Blythe Valley since our purchase of the business park in 2014. A £5 million refurbishment of our One Central Boulevard Grade A office scheme has recently completed and we’ve seen that the break-out areas and coffee shop here are already proving popular with occupiers, with both Infor and Zenith having recently signed up to ten year leases.

“We’ve also succeeded in attracting two new tenants to Design & Build space, so the investment strategy is paying off. However, as more tenants are attracted to Blythe we’re conscious we also need to improve the amenities available and so a purpose-built facility seemed the next logical step.

“We liked the fact that Java Lounge was an independent. Several of us had sampled the coffee as it’s not far from our 55 Colmore Row scheme, and we’ve been very impressed. We all agreed that is would be right for Blythe and its owner, Akram Almulad would be the right person to welcome occupiers and make the facility work.

“The new coffee shop will seat up to 50 people and will serve food and drinks and will be a great place to hold meetings or facilitate quiet working.”

Java Lounge was established in Moseley 11 years ago by Akram Almulad; aimed to reflect his Yemeni heritage and to honour the homeland of his parents for being the first country to grow coffee beans for the purpose of consumption.

Blythe Valley Business Park is located adjacent to junction 4 of the M42.
